Rethinking White, Cream and Ivory

by Lovely on August 3, 2010

champagne room I’m home sick today. It’s nothing serious that leaves me bedridden. Let’s just say I need to stay close to a potty today ;) That’s all I’ll say about THAT!

So, what else does a sick girl do but browse her Google Reader that has 1,238 unread items. Yes, that’s really what it said this morning when I started! Craaaaazy! Blog. Lover. I. AM. Even though I speak neither language, some of my favorites are Swedish and Norwegian. Pictures really do say a thousand words, don’t they? Lilla Blanka anyone?

From Tine's Kreative Hjorne. I think Hjorne means Home.

I just adore the serenity of the whitewashed photos. However, I never, ever considered doing all whites in my home. First, I live with a slob of a man. I love him, really I do, but he’s the messiest guy I know. Second, wouldn’t I get BORED with it over time? Hmmmm. Maybe so.

white mirrors up the steps

The fact is, though, that I feel sort of closed in in my tiny townhouse. It’s dark even on bright sunny days. Maybe whitewashing some of it would brighten the interior more. And perhaps a cleaner canvas would soothe me as much as these photos do.

champagne The color of champagne is especially enticing served in crystal goblets. Maybe I’ll give whites a try. What could it hurt, right?

Oooh, I LOVE an all-white pallete!!! It’s so peaceful and relaxing and make me want to pick up a good book and curl up on a fluffy white sofa to read it! So serene!

I, too have found that I really enjoy looking at blogs from other countries! The way that I’ve found them though, is the same way that I just found out about “Tine’s Kreative Hjorne”…..from someone else’s blog….this time YOURS. :-)

The other day I was trying to find some French blogs to read, but when I did a google search I would either get blogs to learn to speak French or American blogs about French decor. Do you have any hints on how to find an actual French person living in France writing about home decor, for example?

Anyway, back to your post, I really love that picture with the single mirror. The other one is beautiful, too, but that first one really caught my attention because of the image caught in the reflection. So pretty!! Thanks for sharing!!

I hope you have a great day!

Thanks so much!!

I find other blogs by clicking on their blogrolls/link lists of the blogs they like. You can spend all day just jumping from blog to blog. I make a point to update my blogroll this weekend and add more of my favorites ;)
