A Lovely Dream Kitchen

A Lovely Dream Kitchen

0

My biggest problem as an amateur interior designer *cough, cough* is that I like everything. I like red, but I also like neutral creams and greys … or is it grays. I like rustic, but I also like glitzy sparkle. I like Old World charm, but I also like whimsical cottage. Show me any design style book and I’ll find vignettes I like. It’s a tough predicament that the pros call eclectic — which really means “make up your mind, woman!”

Then, there are photos like this that make me catch my breath and drool at the same time. Yes, that is a biological feat only kitchen envy can accomplish.

I LOVE the colors. LOVE the carved details and color of the cabinetry, love love LOVE the elegance of the chandeliers against the rough stone, and I love the coffered ceiling with that floor tile — placed on the diagonal.  Shiny black granite counters? Awesome! And the red toile – it always elicits a drool from me. Yep, I love EVERYTHING in this room. This is my dream kitchen.

So, this picture gets glued into my dream book.

But, first, I used a graphics program to pick out major colors to glue in with it. I would never in a million years choose these colors together. Not sure I really got the true red in that toile wallpaper or chair pads, either.

Now I’m going to walk into my classic 1990′s kitchen for another cup of coffee … and dream.
