Are you serious?
Springtime snowstorms in Colorado aren’t rare. Really, I should be used to this after a combined 30 something years in this state, but … you know, flurries of fluffy white stuff are pretty in December. Please, Mother Nature. It’s April. Send sunshine and butterflies. Thank you.
Lucky for me I have sweet berries in pretty red syrup and yummy yellow cake to remind me of what Spring SHOULD look like
Lest you think for one moment that I baked this confection allow me to remind you of the broken chocolate cake fiasco.
Though I wasn’t baking, hubby and I were very busy over the weekend taking two loads of stuff to my space in the antique mall — including a few rather large items. We also donated an old vacuum cleaner and a sewing machine to Goodwill. It feels really, really good to get the stuff out of the house. Our basement floor is actually visible.
Deciding to close down the business made me sad. However, I feel a great sense of relief, too. Not to sound over dramatic but every extraneous object that leaves the house allows me to breathe a bit freer. Our tiny townhouse is simply to cluttered — even for me. If I am lucky enough to have a “stuff” business in the future, it must be in a space separate from our home. A barn, an extra garage, a warehouse … a brick and mortar store perhaps?
For now, I’ll simply carry on simplifying our home and eating spring-timey strawberry cake. Take THAT, Mother Nature!
