Crocheted Market Bag

Folded crocheted market bag

Pink and green, this self contained market bag is wonderful for shopping at the Farmer’s Market or flea market.

The pouch holds the net portion of the bag.

Two round medallions form a pouch as well as the bottom of a market bag.

I’ve come across several of these patterns. Here’s one from Fancy Fingers that I’ve posted before.  Another is the Tuck-away Tote designed by Ruth Shepherd.

Mine is closer to Ruth’s design. Using good old Coats Knit-Cro Sheen (of which I have a bazillion balls), I made wider but shorter handles, a smaller mesh and skipped the button. It’s possible that a button may damage produce or other purchases. As it turns out, the button really wasn’t necessary to hold the bag together.

I love it. Friends and family have requested a few … I’m thinking Christmas gifts. :)
