RESTRUCTURING

in Blathering On

Restructuring sounds soooo professional, doesn’t it? Well, I’m doing the professional thing for A Lovely Thing and going with plan B … or am I on to plan C?

My web-shop A Lovely Thing will be shutting down this week and I’m not sure when or if it will return. I’ll definitely be keeping the URL and perhaps move my blog there in the future.

The prevailing mode of operandi in business is to fake-it-til-you-make-it. It’s not hip to admit defeat, but really, if  Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic fame is in the rough, you know it’s tough out there.  So, I’m trying really hard not to take it as a personal defeat. I’m not giving up on entrepreneurship forever.  However, when you’re losing money it’s time to step back and reevaluate, especially when your budget is already shoestring thin.

I have to confess that, along with the down economy, I’m also struggling to keep my sanity around my tiny town home. A minimalist I’ll never be. I love stuff, lots of stuff and I always will. That said, running a stuff business out of your 1500 sq.ft.  living quarters puts clutter on a whole new level :)

I’ll be clearing out remaining inventory at rock bottom prices. I just haven’t yet decided on how to go about it — here on the blog or on eBay. If you’re a retailer and see something of interest on the web-shop – email me. I’m willing to sell bulk at cost plus shipping, but not below.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having a bad time with the shop. But change can be a good thing, I wish you luck!
