Dee, I'm so glad you're giving this a try.

First, make sure you're doing the yarn over (yo) when you're skipping that stitch. Then, make sure you're working that yo separately on the return portion. A common error is missing the last stitch since it's sort of hidden at the end.

I am having trouble. i started with 16 sts. In row 3 , working in vertical bars, and the elongated, i get lost. how many stitches should i have at the end of each row. i start with 16 and i end up with 12 due to the skipping a st. also in the row working with hfdc, elongated, and hfdc, the part of instructions where you have yo, skip next vertical bar, work a hfdc, an elongated hfdc, and a hfdc, i get lost again. how many stitches should i have at the end of each row. i want so much to know how to do this?
thank you
