Blue And White Pitcher

Unsafe Products

5

On the hunt for porcelain items to stock, I’m running into the same frustration over and over and over again.  And that is products marked “for decorative purposes only” or “not food safe”.

I refuse to sell such items.

For one, when I’m purchasing for MY home I want beautiful items, yes, but also FUNCTIONAL items. What purpose is a gorgeous blue and white pitcher that cannot be used for serving? In fact, I’d be afraid to put flowers in the thing!

Secondly, when it comes to dishware, will hosts and hostesses pay attention to such warnings? What if they mistakenly serve their guests off lead-tainted dishware?

I’m sorry, but I couldn’t sleep at night knowing that items from my shop may have poisoned someone today.

I totally agree! It's one thing if an item is vintage/antique, before we knew about the problems w/ lead paint, but if it is a current item, it is ridiculous if someone manufactures or sells it "for decorative purposes only"! I often see cute plates & platters that would be great for holiday serving pieces, but end up not buying them because of the warnings.

Oh thank goodness! I cant stand it when I go to buy something and it says that! Good for you!

PS- how do you get three columns in your blog? I was inspired by you last night when I was bound and determined to figure it out. At 2:10am, I gave up. I just don’t understand alot of the jargon.

you’re more honest than most! i wish toxic material weren’t used in the manufacuring of any household items. it’s thoughtless..

Thank you for stopping by to see me! I don’t think I’ve been by here before. I hope you’ll come back again soon.

So sorry about the lead thing, I don’t blame you for being worried. I’m trying not to buy anything made in China anymore.
