ORGANIZATION

6

I just spent most of the morning attempting to organize my linen closet. No easy feat since it really has become my dumping ground for odds and ends, and since I never want to throw anything out.

I’ve decided to dedicate some time over the next week or so to get my home organized. It very well may be the most beneficial thing I can do for myself. :)

It’s hard for me to concentrate when things are in a disarray. And they ARE in disarray around here what with focusing 24/7 on business.

Living in a small space makes it none the easier, either. So, I thought I’d share how I put things away in plain sight.

needles and hooks

Knitting and crochet needles go into pretty vases.

corks in a pitcher

Corks that I just can’t throw out find their way into a pitcher in the kitchen. If someone wants these for a craft project, let me know ;) Perhaps I can send them to you. I cleaned out the plastic ones and only kept the pure cork ones.

rooster drawers

A tiny little set of drawers hold items like aspirin and rubber bands. The shelf you see bits of is wonderful for adding space. It allows me to keep things handy, but off the kitchen counter. I’ll try to get a better picture of it some other time.

tools in tea canister

More storage in the kitchen — I only have one large drawer in our tiny kitchen. These canisters are terrific for holding utensils. The tea one holds everyday utensils, covered in the sugar canister are tools we use only occasionally. What I forgot to take a photo of is the flour canister. It’s on top of the frig holding restaurant coupons ;)

yarn in apothecary jars

And back to the loft/craft room, yarn storage that I’ve posted before. Isn’t it a pretty display? These jars are just huge. I really wish I had bought more of them.

I’ve got some plans for this loft space — hanging some lace curtains that are stuffed in the already mentioned linen closet. But, first, off to organize.

Great ideas! I love it when I can keep things where I can see them.

Pretty fancy yarn storage; I love it!
My kitchen has 1 drawer, 5 inches wide. All I keep in it are knives, for safety. Everything else has to be in containers. I have a great silverware caddy for that.
I love open storage, like your milk glass for craft supplies. I need to see where things are.

What great storage ideas you have! I love those jars you used to store the yarn, etc. I just bought two tiny ones at Michael’s for my bathroom to keep cotton squares and Q-tips in.
