Yarn In Jars

Yarn Storage

2

Ask any yarnster … knitter or crocheter or weaver … about their “stash” and you’ll likely get a gushing, glowing review of the latest yummy fiber they found at the LYS (local yarn store).

Alas, after the gush, will likely come the sad tale of finding the storage room for it all.

Well, I’ve combined the two :) Why stash my stash in a closet not to be seen until I’m ready to use it? I store it in plain sight.

yarn in jars

What could be lovelier than luscious pink and red stowed away in pretty, sparkly apothecary jars? These sit on a side table in the loft attached to the master bedroom. I get to enjoy the yumminess every time I pass by AND can also enjoy them from afar by looking up from the living room.

I confess that I buy yarns that elicit an “oooohhh” from me in the store. This gorgeous sparkly red, for instance, just caught my eye. I have no idea what I’ll eventually make with it — could be something as simple as a pillow.

First, I have to finish the curtains. I’m one of those rare yarnsters who must finish one project before starting another. Very unusual, I guess, as most have several projects going on the needles.

I’m close, though — so close I can taste it. I keep promising myself that I’ll relax, watch some TV and work on it in the evening. But I find myself at the computer writing instead, or tagging items for my booth at the antique mall, or finishing the laundry, or loading the dishwasher, or …. well, I’m sure I’m not alone.

Getting way off track — why do we tend to put off that which we enjoy the most? Wouldn’t it help my stress level if I took the time to meditate over yarn? LOL.

Yes, I’m sure it would. And, if I’m lucky and the classes I committed to teaching fill-up, I’ll have the perfect excuse to leave the dirty dishes in the sink. ‘)

PS: I promised to post the pattern for the curtains and I will. Putting it in a digital form (rather than my chicken scratch on note paper) is stumping me right now. I’ll make it my mission to figure it out next week — so, come back for a free crochet pattern for cafe curtains!

Oh yes, I love the idea of pretty visible storage.
I’m on the hunt now for glass containers for my buttons and ribbons.

    Kimberly :)
