Lucky, lucky me! Look what I found! Four boxes of vintage snack sets — all complete, no cracks or chips. Woohoo!
Being in their original boxes just adds so much to the discovery. Safely storing the snacks sets is so much easier, not to mention that the vintage graphics are simply awesome. Although, only 2 sets have the complete tops to their boxes.
In the stack is one box of Anchor Hocking square-ish pattern with bobbles along the edges and cup handles, and three boxes of this swirly, cut Federal pattern.
What can you do with these lovelies? You can, of course, use them for their original purpose. The “sparkling crystal glass” (as described on one box) pieces are so gorgeous on a buffet table and certainly fit the green lifestyle — replacing paper plates is always a good thing.
Imagine a candle in each cup lighting up a bevy of Hors D’Oeuvres on a side table, or corralling spoons and sugar at a lovely tea.
An elegant snack set can keep toiletries handy. Imagine it in a powder room holding potpourri and fancy soaps for guests. Or on your desk for essentials.
These snack sets can hold keys and mail on an entry table, needles and thread in a sewing room, glues and paints in a studio, or notepads by the phone.
I love vintage glassware and am so happy I found these! Woohoo!

what a neat find.

I have the same ribbed set and when doing research on them, I discovered that the little square next to the square that holds the cup, there is a little “groove” in the corner. This little groove is to hold a cigarette! How delightfully handy “way back” – your coffee, your cake and your cigarette all on one plate! Think I’ll pass on the cigarette next to my food. Just thought this was interesting!
