FOUND IN ALBUQUERQUE

In Albuquerque last week, I saw 100’s and 100’s of bowlers. Male bowlers. Now, I won’t describe the stereotypical bowler that I saw as my husband was one of them. I’ll leave it to your imagination. :)

While in town, I was so hoping to shop Albuquerque’s infamous 4th Street Antique Mile. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

However, I was able to visit a second-hand store or two. Here is what I found.

Lovely brown transferware — a platter, gravy boat, cream and sugar.
In the Romantic England pattern from J & G Meakin.
Love the shape of the handles and the scallop-y edges.

A handpainted side table that I just love.
It is painted over a gesso type finish that is cracking at the leg and apron joins.
I may sand and antique it a bit blend the cracks in.

I love the curvy apron and legs.

There are long stretches of desert when traveling south on I-25 through New Mexico with the occasional herd of antelope as the only thing to look at. Delicate creatures that they are, I brought along something to keep myself occupied between sightings.

My art glass rooster models the result – a lovely knitted lavender scarf!
