One doesn’t have to embark on huge curtain projects to enjoy crocheting as a useful hobby. Small touches around your home can be completed in mere minutes. YES, I said MINUTES.
Take a fuzzy, furry novelty yarn — do a simple chain stitch and viola, trim to dress up a boring lamp shade.
A few inches of filet crocheted edging work up pretty fast — more than minutes, I admit. But look at the impact when used as a curtain tie-back. Such a pretty, quick finishing touch to use up small bits of left over yarn.

Add a few beads (I plan on making beaded tie-backs for the living room) for extra sparkle in a more formal window treatment.
Now, here’s the quickest of the quick projects — narrow strips of lace used in place of ribbon. Here are a couple of strips I made testing new patterns.

Aren’t they pretty hanging on the wall? These sweet little plates are the perfect venue for crocheted lace.
So, don’t think that you MUST do huge projects like curtains or afghans. Think small. Think quick. Think big impact with bits of left over yarn. Then, send me a pic — because I’d love to see what you come up with!
