I have been crocheting my whole life. My mother taught me when I was in elementary school. My first big, “real” project was a colorful afghan – a very airy afghan – made with left over yarn from my mom. I still love the colors. Even at that age (I think I was 10), I think I did a good job staggering the colors – light and dark, separating the blues and reds/pinks.
However, as you can see from the close-up, I crocheted into only one loop of the single crochet stitches. The stitches stretched – it was a valuable lesson learned.
